I see that you don't have a review of the Portland Oregon show 10-05-95.
My
names Dan Tracy and I'm 18. I was at the show and it was the best show
I've
ever been to so I thought I'd tell a little about it. I'm new to the net
and
am a relatively new fan. My first show was 12-1-94 at the Salem Armory.
I
have 100 hours of tapes and have been to 7 shows total 5 since the Oregon
show, the Spokane, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and San Francisco run
this
fall. All six shows were very good and stand out for different reasons,
but
this one was my favorite. It was over a year ago so this is trusting my
memory a lot. The setlist was
I: Chalkdust Torture, Ha Ha Ha, The Fog Hat Surronds, The Horse>Silent in
the
Morning, Cars Trucks Buses, Strange Design, Divided Sky, Acoustic Army,
Julius, Suzy Greenberg
II: Also Sprach Zarathrusta, Runaway Jim, Colonel Forbins Ascent>Fly
Famous
Mockingbird, Scent of a Mule, Cavern, David Bowie, Lifeboy, Amazing Grace
E: While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Set I:
Set one was a fantastic set Chalkdust Torture was a fantastic opening. I
love when they play a rocker for an opening. The Chalkdust Jam was
intense
and it got the crowd totally hyped for the show. The sound quality was
great
(I love the old Coliseum the acoustics were so much better than the new
Rose
Garden) and even up in my upper level seats (was out of town when tickets
went on sale) it sounded great. Chalkdust Torture was followed by Ha Ha
Ha
which was a suprise like a lot of the songs that night. I didn't
recognize
it at the time, but grooved to it the same. The Fog Hat that Surrounds
was
sweat. The sounds flowed through the coliseum very well. From there they
went into The Horse which was a plesant switch and the seque jam into
Silent
in the Morning was brilliant. After that they played Cars Trucks Buses
which
I heard for the first time and loved the addictive keyboard hook. From
there
they went to Strange Design and had the crowd poised to explode. Then the
band played Divided Sky, my favorite song, and just went nuts jamming on
it.
It was fantastic, the best jam I've ever heard, including the Divided Sky
at
the Cow Palace and the Tweezer at the Armory, The moved to Acoustic Army
which was a great mood lightener with them all coming out with their
acoustic
guitars. Julius and Suzie Greenberg followed in what I rate as an A- to A
first set, possibly an A+ with the absolutely awesome Chalkdust Torture
and
Divided Sky.

Set II:

Set 2 started off with a song I'd never heard and haven't since. I got
the
name off of The Helping Phriendly Book and its called Also Sprach
Zarathrusta, it grooved really well though and I enjoyed it. From their
the
set got very interesting with the band playing Runaway Jim, Colonel
Forbins
Forbidden Ascent>Fly Famous Mockingbird, which really was nice to hear.
It
was played very smoothly with some short, poignant jams that flowed
brilliantly. Scent of a Mule and Cavern followed and the set along with
the
crowd got wild. David Bowie followed and what was a jam I will not soon
forget. Trey was fantastic on a night that the solos were
uncharacteristically dominated by Page. David Bowie rocked to the fullest
extent and then they went into Lifeboy, a song I didn't recognize but
enjoyed
none the less. The second set closed with Amazing Grace which was fun and
a
good end. B+ David Bowie might pull it up to an A, either way a very solid
set.

E:

The encore was fantastic and one of the many highlights of my evening.
Being
a huge Beatles fan I was thrilled when they played While My Guitar Gently
Weeps. Trey was absolutely amazing during the encore and the song
captured
the Beatles brilliance and added new life and intelligence to the song.
The
song lasted a good 10 minutes with the jam and was by far the best encore
I've seen the band do. A+ I can't say enough, this encore was fantastic.

Theres my two cents, I hope it was informative.
