My phirst real show after an enormously long hiatus from
seeing Phish (saw them in 10/89 and 5/91), my life was
effectively changed from this show forward.  I decided
during the 2001 that opened the second set that I would do
everything in my power to see every phish show that I ever
could so long as I lived (within reason).  I was even LATE
to this show, coming in during Landlady (the first song,
but still.. late is late). I'm not a "late" person..
Anyway, this Tweezer is very, VERY special to me, because
it followed a 2001 that, frankly, nearly made me weep for
joy and which -- strange as it may seem -- really helped
move me out of an agnostic desert and into a plush
spiritual rain forest of natural Ecstasy.  I had seen the
movie "Being There" just a few days before this show (see
this movie), in stereo, in order to hear the 'Also Sprach
Zarathustra' in it as loudly as possible (this music makes
its entry at a monumental moment in the movie).  I also
remember commenting to my friends on how unfortunate it
was that we'd never see the song jammed *live*.  Anyway,
suffice it to say that I own "Being There" and absolutely
love "Also Sprach.." (both the text and the music) and had
very much so for a long time prior to 7/17/93.  ANYWAY, I
had NO IDEA that Phish was doing a cover of this tune.  I
quite honestly nearly passed out from Joy. It was one of
those moments in one's life (if one is blessed enough to
have such moments) when Everything Falls Into Place and
absolutely nothing could ever possibly be more spiritually
and materially glorious.  I went absolutely MAD when they
started doing this.. I recognized it at the very beginning
intro, and felt myself starting to shake.. I started
screaming and waving my arms wildly.  Since this was one
of the early versions, and having been in the 7th row or
so, I know I caught mike's and trey's attention... of
course, acting like such a phreak dominologically caused
everybody around me to start screaming (regardless of
whether they knew the tune or not) too.. this is still one
of my favorite versions of 2001 (primarily because of the
long beginning.. not because of anything in the jam,
although it is solid and well done). Sooo, the Tweezer
came for me while I was recovering from one of the highest
moments of my life (and no, I wasn't dosing).  So, this
Tweezer is deeply special to me.

For this reason, recognizing my bias, I want to say for
the record that though this might be an above-average
version to many if not most of you, I will give it an
average 5.0  rating.  There are a few funny noises from
Trey in the opening lyrics segment.. otherwise, nothing
special (the usual exaggerated lyrics..).  The jam is very
powerful and deep.  No bullshit.  Works very well.  Music
to Dance To.  Just over 11 minutes.  Followed by Coil.
Again, I think this version is great, but, I must give it
an average rating because I feel I am biased and can't
fairly review it... and it is certainly not an
outrageously meritorious version, so I don't think I'm
shirking my responsibility to you folks.. ;)  (C)
