12/02/95 The Coliseum, New Haven, CT Thanks, Mark, for the crispy DAUD! Opening standard.. and I mean really
standard. Nothing ear catching in the least.. no significant pre-Ebeneezer jam. Jam segment at 4:22, and the groove starts out
much better than the 11/30 version. Mike is funking with a vengeance in here, and Trey's soloing is extraordinarily ominous,
albeit repetitive. Around 6 minutes, there's a measure or two of some raw, powerful chords, and then Trey comes out of it
soloing in tweezeresque fashion, until Fish kicks in a Hose 11/30 rhythm at 7 minutes!! Already!!!! Trey is noodling in here very
well, Page is chording repetitively, and Mike is all over the place. Slows down a little around 8 minutes, or rather quiets down..
but just a wee bit, before exploding into a melodious, fiery, glorious jam!!! YES!!! At 8:35 Trey is chording repetitively, but this
groove is still very melodic, given the beautiful accompaniment from Fish, Mike and Page. Just nuts, folks.. there is actually
more Hose in here than 11/30/95!! Trey's trilling around 9:30.. Christ, IS THIS GREAT!!!! Another Antelopian Hose of a
Tweezer!! Those of you at the show: LUCKY BASTARDS!!!! Still hasn't stopped -- it has only increased in intensity -- by
10:30!!! Fish is still pounding out an Antelope rhythm. Just total hose, with Trey melodically soloing and sustaining and trilling
and Page pounding away.. Mike is also magnifiscent!!!! OH MY GOD!!! HOLY SHIIIIIT!! Trey was just trilling a la the end
of Maze, Harry, Antelope, etc. The jam just enters yet another complete hose everyone down with sick jamming plane at 12:15
or so.. builds... and again climbs to a new height of spectacularly frenzied groovin! At 12:35, the jam segues back into a more
Tweezer sort of jam, and then The Note at 12:55, but only sortof.. not as powerful a NOTE as it could have been.. hmm.. Trey
is melodically chording in here.. as the jam slows down in a dying out of the jam segment fashion. The ending chords in here
sound like an almost tease of any one of a number of R&B tunes that I couldn't name..but there's a definite tease of "Take Me
to the River." This dying out is looong... total time 15:10. Well, this Tweezer is definitely even more *HOT* than the 11/30/95
version, and is easily my favorite version of Tweezer **ever**, in the Amazing Jam Category. Since I already gave 11/30 a
10.0 rating, which I still think it deserved, because it was excellent, I have no choice but to mock my rating system (as I've often
done elsewhere but never in my Tweezer reviews), by giving this an 11.0 rating. It is easily twice as good as the average 5.0
version of Tweezer, and significantly more profound than the many Excellent 7.5 versions of Tweezer. I like this a hell of a lot
more than, say, the entire second set of Bomb Factory... but to be fair, that was An Event that isn't really comparable to
"Tweezer." The jamming in this 12/2/95 version is admittedly closer to Antelope or Bowie hose than it is to Tweezer, but hell, I
like those songs more than Tweezer, and well, the more Tweezer's jam segment goes NUTS like Antelope/Bowie the more I
like it. I guess. Yes, yes, Binghamton 12/14 also contains some great Hose, but the ending of that version is just too damn blah.
Timber Ho in that 12/14 version was GREAT, but not as 'doc smacking good as the jams of this 12/2 Event... Sure, this version
was really only around 13 mins, not including the dying out of the jam segment ending (which was uneventful, but it usually is),
but considering the jamming, it is just too fiery to be rated below 11/30 or Bing in my opinion. But all of my ratings are bullshit
anyway... I probably should NOT rate this Tweezer at all, since even though it is short, it is still "experimental" (like Bozeman,
Bangor, the FLeezer, et alia) in the sense that the tweezer theme jamming was really only around in the beginning... and even the
dying out of the jam segment ending didn't sound like it ordinarily would have had Tweezer's theme actually been wailed on in
the jam segment. But whatever. Me: "This Tweezer is an 11." Normal Person: "But your rating system only goes up to 10." Me:
[pause, confused look] "But this Tweezer is an 11." two "go watch spinal tap again" cents
